SNOWBOARDS

Lilith
Lilith, 1976, Work no. 349, the section of the painting with the head, is the
cover of my book, Necronomicon 2. It represents the negative part of Eve. She is provided with wings and bears a skull. I ignored the advice of friend Bijan Aalam who claimed that I would not be able to sell a book showing this head on the cover. 25 years later, however, this book is still being sold, which proves my friend’s prophecy wrong.

Li II
Li II, 1974, Work no. 251, is the portrait of my beloved Li who passed away
in 1975. The painting measures 200 x 140 cm and includes a number of element symbolizing death. The oversized head is decapitated and fed intravenously. The painting was purchased by the Arthouse of Buenden (Switzerland) and can be viewed only on very rare occasions. This fact induced me to display a reproduction of the painting at the Museum HR Giger , Chateau St. Germain in Gruyeres (Switzerland) so the public can view the it at any time.

Temple
Temple The representation of a sacred prostitute from the left section of the painting, "Way of the Magician", 1975, Work no. 264, one of four paintings that together comprise the Passage Temple, which was created, specifically, for my exposition in the Gallery Syoon in Frankfurt. The painting was completed 2 days after Li´s death, and I substituted a gun in lieu of a bird´s head near the forehead of the figure at the right side of the throne. The Temple belongs to the Seedamcenter at Pfaeffikon and a reproduction of the painting decorates the Giger Room in the Limelight nightclub in New York City which is housed in a former church.

Spell 2
Spell II, 1973, Work no. 238, is one of my most intense paintings. The woman
on the snowboard is the focal point of the painting. Her feet are tied to an inverted cross. At that point in time, I was very much interested in magic and witchcraft. Incidentally, I would like to stress that I have nothing at all to do with Satan and that I detest cruelty to animals. The Spell Temple series, created 25 years ago, contain symbols which certain fools use to try bring me into a relationship with black magic, an association I strongly decline.

SKATEBOARDS
Anima Mia
Anima Mia, 1981, Work no. 487, (240 x 140 cm), represents the woman at the left side of the painting, a biomechanical witch whose hair is intertwined to form a crown. In the eighties, I was married to Mia for one an a half years. In 1979, she was an assistant on the set of "Alien". In the center of the painting, a sword symbolically splits her double portrait. Since 1996, Carmen is my lifemate.

Crowley
Crowley (The Beast 666), 1975, Work no. 274,
(200 x 140), shows the portrait
of A. Crowley, the best magician, who - with his pointed hat - occupies the left part of the painting. In keeping with the dogma, "below as above", or "Macro-Microcosmos", he holds the reversal of the hat in his hand, an ice-cream cone. The portrait originates from a photograph, which shows the magician in his elderly years, when he caused quite a sensation with his exposition of his paintings and drawings at the Gallery Pforzheim in Berlin. The pointed hat represents Crowley's first ascent of the K2 in the Himalayas.

Landscape 312
Work no. 312, Biomechanoid Landscape, 1975, (200 x 140 cm), belongs to the Art Collection Zurich, Switzerland. It is one of the two paintings, of which a copy is shown at the Museum H.R. Giger, because it is very difficult to obtain original painting on loan for expositions. The painting represents, at its best, the biomechanical style of my paintings; bones and electronic devices transformed into warheads at the center of painting, arranged in a row from top to bottom. This painting is, indeed, ideal for the design of a skateboard.

Samurai
Samurai, 1976, Work no. 295, (100 cm x 70 cm), is similar to Work no. 312, as far as the fusion of the figure with the surrounding environment is concerned. The painting is of a cross-section of a tissue containing a metallic nucleus. The Samurai is constructed out of sword-like elements and is suspended in an organic case, suggesting a link between the Samurai and the case. The skateboard shows only the figure of the Samurai.
