Comments: After watching Alien in '79 I was instantley hooked on the art of H.R Giger,and being an artist
myself I was and still am totally amazed at the feelings and emotion the his artwork evokes in me,
a lot of my freinds find his work disturbing, but to me it is dark and beautiful and to see an exibition here in Australia would be unreal but no-doubt we are to far off the beaten track for that so Iguess his books will have to do for now
any way thanks for the privilage to write a little and I look foward to any future works or publications

Just writing to express my opinion about your works.Explosive!I envy all you have done.I also used to draw and paint but now I think "why bother?".You paint what I cannot,but what I see.
Anyway,I dont want to say what everyone else collectively says about you .What I would like to say and would love to see from you,is you and your own film company,with your own creations,making your own movies,with your visions the way you want them,and the way the public want to see them,making movies.I think you would do a brilliant job,making big-budget horror/sci-fi movies,and I'd bet my life on it the crowds and the money would come.Have you ever thought of doing this?.New Zealand would be a great location for this.You are the best Mr Giger.

Well, your website is pretty stunning. but I think that damaging artist, how you write it in your special important notification,is undiscutable. copying is a matter of the money art costs. and i can imagine that you're rich enough, don't you? so don't matter about the illegal offers of your art, it's anoter way too to get famous. And the most of it is just a little pic of 600 x 800 and further. I've never seen a site where you can print big posters of famous paint artists. I know what I'm talking about because I make music since years, and I have the same problems(?) to handle. For me it's now stuff like copykillsmusic. That is stupid too. They tell every 10,000 copies kill a newcomer band. but look at the charts. just bullshit. so I go on and only buy good music and good arts at all (like your fantastic necronomicon). but the worst stuff should have no chance, thats my opinion.
It would be interesting what you're thinking about that. pleas write me once..

I can easily say that their quality is comparable to that of the greatest artists of all time even if they are SO different from everything else.

Als ich also nach langem Suchen unter der falschen Schreibweise dann im Endeffekt auf dem Planeten Giger landete, fiel mir kurz gesagt das besagte -EI- aus der Hose. Mir waren vorher nur wenige Bilder bekannt, was mich interessierte war die Art und Weise in der der nette Herr Giger seine Bilder malt. Respekt. Airbrush ?, klar. Auf ein neues Respekt, aber nicht zuviel davon. Die Ausführung ist beneidenswert aber die Thematik ist mir persöhnlich ein wenig zu Abstrakt. Die maschinierung des Lebens ist ein Bereich der meiner Meinung nach ja allen mehr oder weniger bewußt ist, das Insektuide ebenso. Dekadenz?, Wahrscheinlich überwindung, steigerung oder am Leben halten eines Traumas, klingt wichtig ist aber Banal. Die Phantasie ist eine Kraft die Erschaffen und Zerstören kann, beim Herrn Giger gehen diese beiden Aspekte Hand in Hand und das macht ihn zu einem genialen Menschen. Das Wort "Künstler" benutze ich bewußt nicht, da ich denke man sollte Menschen die einen Ausdruck für ihre Phantasie gefunden haben, die Niemand anderen angreift oder kritisiert, auf ein Podest heben damit sie auch weiterhin in ihrer Arbeit ohne von Dogmen eingeschränkt zu werden, aufgehen können.

Comments: As a freelance Illustrator & Designer myself, who has experienced plagiarism, just not on the same scale as the GREAT H. R. Giger, I find it utterly distasteful and an obvious infringement of Giger's intellectual property!!! We have a law in Britain known as the Copyrights Designs and Patents Act 1988, which protects artists when they assert their right to be acknowledged as the author of designs or artistic, literary work etc. Although, the laws differ in America, I know that Fox themselves must be aware of their own infringement by American law on Copyright. Although, no law exists to protect the IDEA of any piece of Art, never the less when the IDEA resides within Artwork or other recorded means, IT REMAINS THE PROPERTY OF THE AUTHOR / ARTIST, UNTIL THEY SIGN A LEGAL AGREEMENT THAT THEY HAVE PASSED ON SUCH RIGHTS! Even in the employ of a company the ideas of an Artist do NOT belong to that company, ONLY the work being paid for!!! This right is statutory in America until 50 years after the Authors / Artist's death. So 20th Century Fox should hurry up and pay the Artist: H.R. Giger the royalties owed to him or back pay for the LICENSE they have illegally self-implemented pertaining to the use of H.R.Giger's 'Alien' designs.
Even from a moral stand point, the people responsible for the intellectual theft know what they have done and are therefore guilty! More importantly I am always amazed that in people's lazy plagerising attempts at being creative, they forget one important thing! That the originator of anything, KNOW BEST THEIR OWN CREATION!!! All plagiarists can do is plagiarise, since they have never tried to develop their own abilities to create original material and instead go around constantly, arrogantly, ignorant of the process of REAL creative ORIGINALITY! Like the saying goes: Don't Imitate, INNOVATE! Because we can all copy, thats easy! It's the difference between living your own life and living off someone elses! So you would think that a media giant, like Fox, would be able to create in a more original way than just parasitic intellectual theft!

Comments: The works of Mr. Giger are beyond any words I can think of to decribe them. I feel challenged, frightened, and uplifted by his images, and all at the same time! These are creations that go far beyond human understanding, yet at the same time they are shockingly human. To my eye, the beings and places that Mr. Giger shares with us conjure feelings that are primordial, yet at the same time so futuristic that we are not yet ready to handle it. I'm still in my 20's, but I had seen Mr. Giger's work as a child in books and magazines. It might be strange that parents would allow their child to view this type of material, but I'm so glad they did. Mr. Giger is one of the best and always will be.

Comments: I have long been amazed by your ideas and concepts. ALIEN was one of the first "Scary Movies" my parents would allow me to see simply because "the creature is unbelievable" as they put it. Since I first saw it I was hooked. Not only on the image of the creature, but of all the detail into it's lifecycle and more. I waited for my local comic shop to open several years back the day GIGER'S ALIEN was first released. It still hold a place of honor on my bookshelf. Even now, so many years later, I look back into it for fun, ideas, and because the effort of the project was so huge, yet so well done. You are a man whose sight and insight are unlike that of any other artist or creator I have ever seen. I have seen all of the ALIEN films, not for thier story but to see the different ways the creature has progressed through the 20th Century. Even, Species was amazing not for story, but for the creature unlike any before, and never copied. You art is incredible, detailed, and terrifying. It comes from that part of the heart and soul few if any dare look into. I greatly anticipate more of your work in the future.

Comments: Giger is awesome, I came to find a pic of my tattoo. It is a partial hybrid from The Spell. I have Li's face on which rest the the skulls with claws. I orginally had a single unrelated skull on my forearm then the artist added the face and some more skulls from the piece, which I absolutley adore. Later I added the Biomechanoid enclosure with the baby in it which is on the underside of my forearm, with his metal headband and feather, leather vest and machine gun arms. HEAVEN!! I just wanted to let Mr. Giger know that I admire his artism every day when I look at myself and see these incredible images which have been permanently etched into my skin. If H.R. ever did tattoos or wanted to, I have a flesh canvas waiting for him. I wonder how a mind so brilliant can dream and manifest such surreal environments and would love to be a part of one. Comments: Seit Alien bin von Gigers Arbeiten fasziniert, ebenso von seinen Beiträgen zu Dune, der Wüstenplanet und Species. Auch seine LP-Cover, z. B. bei ELP und Celtic Frost, sind genial. Gigers Arbeiten sind gleichzeitig fesselnd, faszinierend und bedrohlich, bedrückend. Für mich der bedeutendste Gegenwartskünstler schlechthin. Ein Kritiker hat einmal gesagt, er würde in die tiefsten Abgründe der menschlichen Seele schauen und dem Menschen ein Spiegelbild vorhalten; dieser Mensch hat recht. Von Giger kann man zu recht behaupten, daß er sich und ständig weiterentwickelt. Weiter so!
